Commonly Asked Questions
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The Epilight™ uses a pulsed light source to safely heat the hair follicle to a temperature high enough to alter the follicle without damaging the surrounding skin. After a series of treatments, permanent hair reduction is achieved.
WHAT DOES PERMANENT HAIR REDUCTION MEAN?
According to the FDA, "Permanent hair reduction is defined as long-term stable reduction in the number of hairs re-growing after a treatment regime." In time, some clients may experience lighter, finer and less dense hair re-growth. This may be controlled with maintenance treatments resulting in smooth, soft skin.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE REQUIRED?
The hair follicle needs to be targeted during the anagen, or growing stage. Since hair grows in three stages, courses of treatments are required. The amount of treatments also depends on your skin, hair color and the area you wish to treat. An average of four to six treatments is required, depending on your hair removal goals. The amount of treatments will be determined during your complimentary consultation.
HOW IS EPILIGHT DIFFERENT FROM LASERS?
The Epilight™ allows us to customize treatments specifically for your skin type, hair color and texture and body location. No other method, including lasers allows this flexibility.
HOW LONG IS A SESSION?
The length of a session will depend on the specific body part being treated. Sessions may run anywhere from fifteen minutes for an upper lip to an hour for a man's back. The length of your treatment will be determined during the initial evaluation.
